Meet the artist Thomas Dambo for a special artist talk at ARKEN in connection with the current exhibition The Garbage Man.
Thomas Dambo is known around the world for his large-scale installations and iconic giant troll sculptures created from recycled materials. From an early age, his parents taught him the values of recycling, creativity and sustainability — values that continue to shape his artistic practice today. Using discarded materials as his starting point, Thomas Dambo transforms waste into imaginative worlds filled with storytelling, humour and wonder.
During the talk, Thomas Dambo invites the audience into his life, career and journey towards becoming one of the world’s most prominent voices within recycle art. Through stories, images and reflections from projects around the globe, he offers a vivid and whimsical insight into his work and creative universe.
The conversation will also take its starting point in The Garbage Man, created especially for ARKEN and marking the first time Thomas Dambo’s trolls have moved into a museum setting.
